2019 Malbec
Happy Canyon Vineyard // Happy Canyon AVA
These grapes were harvested on October 17th, 2019 and processed in Goleta, CA at Kunin Winery (our host - bless them for putting up with our BS).
We fermented 1/3 whole cluster, 1/3 whole berry and 1/3 crushed berry in a single vessel to create a balanced structure and give just the right spice, fruit, and complexity to the finished wine. Fermented for 12 days on skins, pressed, settled, and aged in neutral barrels for 10 months; we bottled Unfiltered and Unfined, just the way it should be.
These wines scream blackberry pie, currant, dark choco bar, and a single cracked pepper corn. Dark violet, grippy tannin, lush, a silk feather on your tongue, this wine is complex and exhilarating.
Malbec is the SHIT. This was the first varietal we ever produced and it will remain a staple for Soûl Wines year after year.
